Am I covered?
Patients Aged 19 or Younger
ā
Children are eligible for one comprehensive eye exam every 12 months.
Regular eye exams are essential for healthy visual development. Vision plays a vital role in a child’s ability to learn and interact with the world.
Patients Aged 20 to 64

Coverage eligibility in this age group depends on certain medical conditions or medications.
Please note: Eligibility may not always be confirmed prior to your exam, so fees may apply.
If you have a qualifying condition or are taking specific medications (see list below), one OHIP-covered eye exam every 12 months is permitted. These exams are key for detecting complications early and maintaining eye health.
Patients Aged 65 or More

We recommend annual eye exams for all seniors.
The eyes are important indicators of overall health. Eye care goes beyond vision correction—early detection can help prevent vision loss, even before symptoms appear.
